It is hoped that, with time, the group will serve as a forum where members will be able to discuss the myriad of problems they will need to overcome – everything from feelings of anger and resentment to breaking the news to children.
Divorce can be a lengthy and traumatic experience and the group is responding to a very clear need to offer support to individuals at a time when many feel isolated and alone.
Mark Beadle, Chief Executive of Capio Nightingale, feels the time is right for a service such as this:
“We hope that the Divorce Support Group will revitalise members and help them to develop crucial skills that will bring long-term benefit and will successfully meet their emotional needs.”

Capio Nightingale launches a Divorce Support Group to help people cope with the physical and emotional diffculties that seperation can bring about.
With divorce becoming an increasingly prominent part of modern life - 141,750 in England and Wales last year alone - it is clear that now that there is an urgent need for such a support group.
The scheme is due to launch at the end of September, offering members a ten week course of weekly meetings each of which last for an hour and a half. The Divorce Support Group is run by, and is the brainchild of, Charlotte Friedman who occupies a unique position as a top family law barrister who has practised for some 25 years, a trained mediator and a qualified family therapist.
The Divorce Support Group aims to make divorce ‘manageable’ by creating a safe place for members to meet and share their experiences with other people in similar situations – a healthy reminder that they are not alone.
