Interpersonal Therapy Programme
The Interpersonal Therapy Programme, or ITP, helps people by encouraging a positive experience of working in groups, and identifying the feelings, thoughts and behaviours they can change to make their lives more rewarding.
Interpersonal therapy is based on the principle that there is a relationship between the way people communicate and interact with others and their mental health. It is a very effective form of treatment for many psychological conditions including depression and eating disorders.
Our ITP programme supports patients in managing difficulties such as feeling unsettled or unhappy with relationships at home, work, college or in their social life, and is an effective therapy for people who feel bereft due to losing someone or having to make changes in their life.
This programme allows patients to identify with others and share experiences - they benefit from understanding how other people see them and how they impact on others.
By placing a strong value on building relationships, communication, and being a valued member of a group, ITP can help patients increase trust, self-confidence and create the basis for a more positive and balanced state of mental health.
Conflict resolution, relaxation and support groups
We also run a number of other therapy groups were patients learn how to deal with conflict resolution, develop relaxation techniques through activities such as dance or yoga, and join one of several support groups where they can spend time and communicate with other people going through similar difficulties.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Programme
Cognitive behaviour therapy, or CBT, is a highly effective form of treatment suitable for many mental health and psychological conditions including depression and anxiety.
Cognitive behaviour therapy is based on the principle that a person's mood and behaviour reflects the way they think, or that moods are created by thoughts or 'cognitions'. If these thoughts can be recognised and adjusted, then so can mood and behaviour.
CBT provides patients with an individualised set of proven techniques to help them solve their emotional and behavioural problems.
Using the cognitive behaviour approach to understand and work through their problems, patients learn how to identify problem situations and themes, emotional disturbances and unhealthy behaviours and replace them with healthier ways to think, act and respond to situations.
Our therapy programme combines CBT alongside other therapies that promote patients’ psychological recovery and interpersonal skills providing them with the necessary tools to identify healthier ways to live.
